President sees need to slash staff at Sri Lankan embassies

President Maithripala Sirisena has said there was a need to slash staff at Sri Lankan embassies overseas, sources said.

The President has proposed that staff at most Sri Lankan missions overseas be reduced by at least 50 percent.

The President had said this when he met Immigration and Emigration Officials,

An official who was at the meeting told the Colombo Gazette on the condition of anonymity that the President had agreed to a point raised that some Sri Lankan embassies overseas were not productive.

The President has said that the staff at embassies not fully productive must be reduced. (Colombo Gazette)
