Former SLFP Ministers demand new General Secretary

Former Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Ministers are demanding the appointment of a new General Secretary for the SLFP.

Former Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera said that the SLFP cannot continue under a?General Secretary who backs the United National Party (UNP).

Duminda Dissanayake is currently the?General Secretary of the SLFP but?Jayasekera said that the SLFP members who left the unity Government recently will push for a new?General Secretary.

He said that at the SLFP Central Committee meeting scheduled to be held once President Maithripala Sirisena returns from London, the SLFP Ministers who resigned from their posts recently will push the SLFP to leave the unity Government. (Colombo Gazette)

INTERPOL warrants for Tangalle suspects

Warrants are to be issued through the international police, INTERPOL, to arrest 14 suspects over the October 14 incident in Tangalle where five fishermen were attacked and thrown overboard. The police media unit said that the warrants were issued by the Tangalle District court based on information provided by the police.
