President Maithripala Sirisena told media heads today that the cabinet reshuffle will take place soon.
The cabinet reshuffle comes just weeks after changes were made to some portfolios held in the cabinet by United National Party (UNP) Ministers.
The latest cabinet reshuffle will take place after some Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) members voted against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in Parliament this week.
The SLFP Ministers backed a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister, a motion which was eventually defeated.
The SLFP Ministers, including Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera and Ministers S.B. Dissanayake and Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, said that they have not been asked to resign from their posts by the President for backing the no-confidence motion.
