Final report by PSC on Easter Sunday attacks tabled

The final report by the Parliament Select Committee (PSC) on the Easter Sunday attacks was tabled in Parliament today. The report was tabled by PSC member Jayampathy Wickramaratne. Opposition Parliamentarian Dinesh Gunawardena raised concerns over the PSC and its report as one of the members had been accused of having had links with one of the bombers. Hakeem claims SLPP member seen with Zaharan Hashim

Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) leader Rauff Hakeem today denied allegations linking him to Zaharan Hashim, the mastermind of the Easter Sunday attacks. Making a special statement in Parliament today, Hakeem also noted that a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) member had been seen with Hashim. Hambantota Mayor granted bail

Hambantota Mayor Eraj Ravindra Fernando, who had been sentenced to five years in jail for threatening several United National Party (UNP) Parliamentarians with a pistol, was granted bail today. The incident occurred in 2014 when the UNP MPs had conducted an inspection tour of the Mattala Airport and Hambantota Port. The Hambantota High Court sentenced Fernando to jail in August over the case. The Mayor however appealed against the verdict and was granted bail today.
