Railway trade unions today announced they would launch another strike from midnight tomorrow. The strike is to be launched over salary anomalies, the trade unions said. Railway trade unions had recently launched a lightning strike severely inconveniencing the passengers.

Former JMO surrenders, granted bail in Thajudeen murder case

Former Colombo Chief Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) Professor Ananda Samarasekara, who surrendered to courts today in relation to the investigations over the alleged murder of former rugby player Wasim Thajudeen, was released on bail. Samarasekara surrendered to the Colombo Magistrates court after he was wanted by the Police over allegatione he had attempted to conceal evidence in the case when he was the JMO. Influential Buddhist council says no to new Constitution

An influential Buddhist council has decided to oppose a new Constitution for Sri Lanka saying there was no requirement for a new?Constitution.
