Curfew in Ratnapura and Pelmadulla to remain

The Government has decided not to lift the curfew in the Ratnapura and Pelmadulla Police areas tomorrow. The Police said that travel through these areas will also not be permitted. The curfew was to be temporarily lifted in 19 districts including the Ratnapura and Pelmadulla Police areas tomorrow. However, the Police said that while the curfew will be lifted in the 19 districts it will remain in the Ratnapura and Pelmadulla Police areas until further notice. (Colombo Gazette)

Rupee hits new record low against USD

The Sri Lanka Rupee depreciated today, hitting a new record low against the US Dollar. The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) said the selling rate of the US Dollar was at Rs. 200.47. The Sri Lanka Rupee last depreciated against the US Dollar on Monday (06). The Sri Lanka Rupee was selling at Rs. 199.4042 against the USD at the close of trading on Monday. (Colombo Gazette)

Robot to assist staff at newly opened hospital in Iranawila

Atlas Axillia PLC, a subsidiary of the Hemas Group, handed over another homegrown Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) robot, to assist medical personnel in the remote monitoring and care of patients affected by the coronavirus. The handing over took place at the opening of the new dedicated COVID-19 treatment facility at Iranawila.
