Common service corridors have been proposed to avoid frequent road digging, especially in Colombo. Power and Energy Minister Ravi Karunanayake told Parliament today that roads are often dug by state institutions like the Ceylon Electricity Board or Water Board to repair or place new lines. Crew member of airline arrested at BIA with gold bangles

A Sri Lankan crew member of a foreign airline was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) with gold bangles smuggled into the country. The crew member had arrived in the country from Qatar when he was arrested. He had in his possession 423 gold bangles worth more than Rs.20 million at the time of arrest. (Colombo Gazette)
