Pro-LTTE supporters protest outside Sri Lankan mission in UK

Pro-LTTE supporters staged a protest outside the Sri Lankan High Commission in London today against Brigadier Priyanka Fernando, the Defence Attach? at the High Commission.

The protest was jointly organized by the Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam, Tamil Youth Organization, Tamil Coordinating Committee and Tamil Solidarity.

The demonstrators were to march from the Sri Lankan High Commission to UK?s Foreign Commonwealth Office at King Charles Street, Westminster.

The demonstrators are urging the UK Government to arrest Sri Lankan Defence Attach? Brigadier Priyanka Fernando for allegedly committing war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide against Tamil people.

The Pro-LTTE supporters want the UK to prosecute Brigadier Priyanka Fernando under universal jurisdiction.

Brigadier Priyanka Fernando had this week been suspended over a throat-cutting gesture but was soon reinstated by President Maithripala Sirisena.

Fernando had gestured towards protesters earlier this week resulting in his suspension before he was eventually reinstated.?(Colombo Gazette)

Twenty-six people found to be infected in Dematagoda
