Douglas confident of a political solution

Sri Lanka’s topmost Tamil minority Minister in the northern town of Jaffna on Sunday expressed confidence that the government will be able to finalize a political solution for the Tamils in the country. Sri Lanka to ban anti-Islam video

Sri Lanka is to ban a controversial anti-Islam video from being aired in the country, the Ministry of Buddhashasana and Religious affairs said today. Deputy Minister M.K.D.S Gunawardena told the Colombo Gazette that a newspaper advertisement will be published this week in the local media saying the video should not be aired in the country. S.M Ranjith appointed CM

S.M Ranjith was sworn in as the Chief Minister of the North Central province before President Mahinda Rajapaksa this morning. Former Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake had earlier publicly stated that he should be given the post and not S.M.Ranjith who is a brother of former Minister S.M.Chandrasena. Meanwhile Mahipala Herath was today sworn in as the Chief Minister of the Sabaragamuwa province.
