Committee to submit report this week on fuel issue

The committee appointed to look into the recent fuel crisis is to submit its report this week.

Head of the committee, Minister Sarath Amunugama said that the report is expected to be submitted on Tuesday.

President Maithripala Sirisena had appointed the committee when the fuel issue turned into a crisis last week.

A shortage of fuel turned into a crisis with fuel sheds running out of petrol for days.

The situation was resolved with an oil tanker arriving from the UAE and India sending stocks following a request from the President.?(Colombo Gazette)

Police seize gloves with images of Buddha, Jesus and Mary

The Police have seized over 300 gloves with images of Lord Buddha, Jesus Christ and Mother Mary. Police Spokesman, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana said that three suspects were arrested in Poojapitiya with the gloves. He said that 311 gloves were seized from the suspects. Over 1500 airport workers vaccinated

Over 1500 airport workers have been vaccinated, the Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited (AASL) said.
