Modi and Sirisena hold teleconference on fuel crisis

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Maithripala Sirisena had a teleconference this evening and discussed the fuel crisis in the country.

The Indian High Commission in Colombo said that Modi assured India’s assistance following Sri Lanka’s request for emergency petrol shipments.

Lanka Indian Oil (LIOC) has made available 3500 kl of petrol from its stocks to the?Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC).

The Indian High Commission said that a ship with 21,000 kl of petrol from India is also scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka.

Additional petrol will be available to Sri Lanka at the Kochi Refinery while further shipments will also be made if required. (Colombo Gazette)
