Sri Lanka keen to import ethanol from India

India’s Union Minister Nitin Gadkari says Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have shown their keenness to import ethanol from India. Elephants killed after being hit by train in Habarana

A number of elephants were killed after being hit by a train in Habarana today. At least 3 elephants were reported to have been killed in the accident. An intercity express train had crashed into the elephants on the railway track in Hathareskotuwa. The train had derailed following the accident. (Colombo Gazette)

Adarshaa Karadana released on bail

Adarshaa Karadana, who was arrested over a complaint made by former Presidential Advisor Ashu Marasinghe, was granted bail today. Karadana was released by the Colombo Chief Magistrate on two surety bails of Rs. 500,000 each. She was arrested yesterday after an anticipatory bail application filed by her was rejected by court.
