Special police security has been provided to the family of Anika Wijesuriya, a witness in the alleged treasury bond scam, the Police said.
Wijesuriya, a key witness who testified against former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake, had fled the country following threats to her life.
The Attorney General?s Department informed the Presidential Commission investigating the alleged treasury bond scam recently that Anika Wijesuriya had fled after she was threatened.
Wijesuriya had told the commission earlier that Karunanayake and his family leased a penthouse at Monarch Residencies for eight months with the monthly lease rental Rs 1.45 million being paid by Perpetual Treasuries owner Arjun Aloysius.
Wijesuriya owned the Penthouse at Monarch Residencies.?(Colombo Gazette)
