Hundreds affected from two days of rain, military deployed to assist

Hundreds of?people have been affected and three people are dead following the two days of heavy rain, the Disaster Management Centre said on Monday. Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Kodippili said that over 11,000 people have been affected in several parts of the country. He said that evacuation centres had been setup at most places and assistance is being provided to those affected. Kodippili said that the military had been deployed to assist some of the families

Three flights heading to BIA diverted to Mattala and India

Three passenger flights heading to the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) were diverted to the Mattala airport and Cochin airport in India owing to bad weather. An?Airport Spokesman told Xinhua that Malindo Air and Jet Airways was diverted to Cochin and Fly Dubai was diverted to Mattala. (Colombo Gazette)
