Joint opposition rejects vote result on Essential Services Act

The join opposition today rejected result of the vote on the Essential Services Act.

Join opposition member of Parliament Dinesh Gunawardena said that the?Essential Services Act was passed by the Government illegally.

The Speaker’s office had announced that the?Essential Services Act had been passed by Parliament.

The vote on the Act was taken when the?joint opposition staged a protest in the House.

The join opposition however says the mace was removed during the protest and so Parliament cannot sit and take decisions when the mace is removed. (Colombo Gazette)
