Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop is to discuss security cooperation during her visit to Sri Lanka this week.
Bishop will be visiting India and Sri Lanka from 18-20 July to strengthen bilateral, economic and security relations with two important partners in our region.
“In Sri Lanka, I will meet President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake and other ministers to discuss security cooperation and explore new economic opportunities in science, resources and energy,” Bishop said in a statement today.
President Sirisena and Bishop will announce Australian assistance to combat dengue fever in Sri Lanka and discuss progress on the implementation of Sri Lanka’s reconciliation process, which Australia says is critical to Sri Lanka’s long-term security and prosperity. (Colombo Gazette)
