An offshore patrol vessel gifted by the United States (US) arrived in Sri Lanka today. The ex-United States Coast Guard Cutter, USCGC Douglas Munro began its journey home following the training of the Sri Lankan crew at the US Coast Guard Base, in Seattle, Washington. Over 50 students of Panadura school admitted to hospital

Over 50 students of a school in Panadura were admitted to hospital today owing to smoke inhalation. Hospital officials said that most students are from the primary section of the school. The students were admitted to hospital with breathing difficulties. The students had reportedly fallen sick after smoke from a nearby establishment had filled the class rooms of the school. The students were admitted to the Panadura Base Hospital for treatment. (Colombo Gazette)
