President to consider proposals by lawyers

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has informed the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) that he will consider the proposals put forward by the lawyers. At a meeting with the BASL, the President said that the law must be protected when implementing the proposals. The BASL had submitted a 13-point proposal to the President to address the crisis in Sri Lanka. Both sides discussed the proposals and how it was arrived at. Large number of demonstrators gather to support MR

A large number of demonstrators gathered at Temple Trees today to extend support to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. The demonstrators gathered inside and outside Temple Trees and voiced their support to Rajapaksa. The demonstrators insisted that Rajapaksa remain in office and not resign. China reports first human case of H3N8 bird flu; 4-year-old found infected

China has recorded the first human infection with the H3N8 strain of Bird Flu in the country’s Henan province, media reports said on Tuesday. China’s National Health Commission (NHC) announced the case in a statement but said the risk of it spreading among people was low.
