Five member Supreme Court bench appointed to consider 20A petitions

A five member Supreme Court bench has been appointed to consider the petitions filed against the 20th Amendment to the Constitution. The?Supreme Court bench will be chaired by Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya. The five member Supreme Court bench comprises Buwaneka Aluwihare, Sisira De Abrew, Priyantha Jayawardena and Vijith Mallalgoda. The petitions will be considered on 29th September. Body of woman washed ashore in Kalmunai

The body of a woman washed ashore in Kalmunai today, the Police and area residents said. The body was identified as that of 75-year-old Sinnathambi Nesamma, a mother of two. According to the Police, the body was washed ashore early this morning. Area residents and the Police had gathered at the location and attempted to verify the identity of the woman. Subsequently the body was identified by her relatives. Investigations are now underway. (Colombo Gazette)
