Cardinal says drug traffickers must be placed on isolated island

The Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith says drug traffickers must be placed on an isolated island to ensure they do not continue with their criminal activities from inside prison. The Ministry of Health said that the?Cardinal had expressed this opinion at a meeting with Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne today. According to the?Ministry of Health, the?Cardinal had noted that there was a huge outcry over a recent statement he had made on the death penalty for drug traffickers.

One killed, 27 others injured in Badulla accident involving bus

One person was killed and 27 others sustained injuries when a bus went down a precipice in Badulla today. The Police said that the Sri Lanka Transport Board bus went down a?75-foot precipice in Badulla. The driver of the bus was trapped inside and had to be removed by the Police and area residence.
