Cinnamon Life welcomed the renowned Australian chef, restaurateur and MasterChef judge George Calombaris to Sri Lanka, at an exclusive media gathering held at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo.

George’s visit was the very first high-profile lifestyle event, to be hosted by Cinnamon Life as part of the brand’s ongoing effort to bring world-class culinary events and well-loved celebrity personalities to Sri Lanka.

As part of his tour to Sri Lanka George visited Habarana and traveled to key destinations; Minneriya National Park, the Sigiriya Rock Fortress and the traditional village of Hiriwadunna.

Commenting on his time in Sri Lanka he said, “Sri Lanka truly is a magical place to explore, and I’ve completely enjoyed immersing myself in the local culture and sampling all of the delicious food and delicacies that this beautiful island has to offer.”

While in Sri Lanka George curated two 5-course Greek-themed dinners, an exclusive high tea and a highly anticipated Masterclass, giving culinary enthusiasts in Colombo the rare chance to meet him, learn from him and indulge in his trademark authentic and contemporary Greek cuisine.

George Calombaris was facilitated by Cinnamon Life with the support of the Australian High Commission.

Also commenting on the event, Dileep Mudadeniya, Head of Brand Marketing and Vice President John Keells Group said, “We were delighted to have George visit us. The Cinnamon brand has always strived to be a trendsetter and set the benchmark in the hospitality industry, we are truly proud to host a celebrity chef of George’s caliber and we believe that his visit will create a wave of hype and positive conversations about the Cinnamon brand and strengthen Sri Lanka’s position as a dining and entertainment hotspot and top travel and lifestyle destination.”

Scheduled for completion in 2020, Cinnamon Life is an integrated resort developed by Sri Lanka’s premier listed conglomerate, the John Keells Group.

Upon completion, the project will comprise 800 luxury hotel rooms, that will operate as part of the Cinnamon chain, an array of entertainment facilities, apartments, retail and entertainment malls, office spaces, and many other attractions.

The development’s iconic design by Cecil Balmond will span across 4.5 million square feet and it envisioned to be the epicentre of modern South Asia.

Designed to be the first multi-functional development of its kind in the country and a city within a city, Cinnamon Life is set to strengthen Colombo’s place as an entertainment hotspot in the Indian Subcontinent.

George Calombaris’ visit is one of many exciting events in the pipeline, that will further showcase the role that Cinnamon Life will play in bringing globally renowned icons, celebrities and events to Sri Lanka.
