Gayantha insists he has not asked for additional roles

Lands and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Gayantha Karunatillake denied claims he had sought more responsibilities.

Karunatillake told Parliament he was happy with what was given to him in the cabinet reshuffle and had not asked for more positions.

The former Media Minister said that when he was given his previous portfolios he accepted them with no objections.

He said that when the current portfolios were offered to him he accepted it and had not had any discussions with the President seeking more responsibilities. (Colombo Gazette)

Over 50 admitted to hospital after wasp attack

Over 50 people were admitted to hospital after a wasp attack in Minuwangoda. The Police said that the wasp attack had taken place at a school in the area. The wasps had been disturbed during a program to clean the school premises with the participation of staff and parents.

Rishad Bathiudeen grilled by FCID

Minister Rishad Bathiudeen was questioned by the Financial Crime Investigations Division (FCID) today over alleged financial misappropriation in importing rice for Lanka Sathosa. The alleged financial misappropriation had taken place during 2014/15. Bathiudeen was questioned for nearly 5 hours by the FCID.
