Abandoned Sri Lankan workers in Romania receive new job opportunities

A group of 36 Sri Lankan workers who were abandoned at a Romanian airport this week, have been offered an alternate employer in order that they may continue employment in Romania. Cabinet approves proposal to import 2500 dairy cattle

Cabinet has approved a proposal to import 2500 dairy cattle from Australia, co-cabinet spokesman Ramesh Pathirana said. Pathirana said that the decision was reached to meet the demand for liquid milk in the country. He said that Sri Lanka produces 1.2 million liters of milk a day while the demand is for 3.5 million liters a day. Islandwide curfew declared on Sunday

An islandwide Police curfew will be imposed on 31 May (Sunday), the President?s Media Division (PMD) announced. The PMD said the curfew will be imposed in all districts from 10.00 p.m to 4.00 a.m from 1-3 June. An islandwide curfew will once again be enforced on 4 (Thursday) and 5 (Friday) June.
