Ranil notes UNP ready for election at any time

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says the United National Party (UNP) is ready for an election at any time.

Wickremesinghe was speaking at the UNP May Day rally in Borella today.

The UNP leader said that looking at the crowd at the UNP rally today he is confident of facing an election at any time.

Wickremesinghe also called on his party supporters to back the development plans of his Government.

The Prime Minister said that India,China and Japan are now supporting Sri Lanka’s development drive.

He said India has already agreed to invest in projects in Trincomalee, including in an LNG power project. (Colombo Gazette)

Chennai bound flights diverted to Colombo owing to storm

Some Chennai bound passenger flights were diverted to Colombo today owing to a storm in the Tamil Nadu area. A Srilankan Airlines flight on its way to Chenai returned to Katunayake while a flight heading to Chennai from Dubai also landed in Katunayake this morning. Srilankan Airlines said that all Chennai bound flights were cancelled today owing to the storm. (Colombo Gazette)
