Sri Lanka’s Angelo Mathews is set to make a comeback for Delhi Daredevils. The all-rounder has joined Daredevils’ camp ahead of their clash with Kings XI Punjab. Mathews was nursing a hamstring injury that ruled him out of the ODI and T20I series against Bangladesh at home. Mathews is now likely to feature in the playing XI against KXIP.
Earlier, it was suggested that Mathews will miss major part of the Indian Premier League (IPL), but has recovered sooner than expected. Mathews after arriving attended a practice session with head coach Rahul Dravid assisting him. The Sri Lankan could well be picked ahead of another all-rounder, Corey Anderson.
Not just by Mathews’ return, Daredevils will be boosted by the availability of Shreyas Iyer as well. Iyer, who was down with Chicken Pox, has been declared fit and is available for Delhi’s game against Punjab. He is likely to replace Aditya Tare as an opener.
Delhi Daredevils will be playing their first home game of the season. The Zaheer Khan led side has lost one and won as many thus far. Daredevils opened their campaign on a disappointing note against Royal Challengers Bangalore but then bounced back in their last match against Rising Pune Supergiant.
With Mathews and Iyer set to return, Daredevils will be hoping for a decent show from these two players. (Courtesy India.com)
