Health Minister urged to address situation in Kinniya

Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne has been urged to address a medical emergency situation in Kinniya.

President of the Muslim Council?of Sri Lanka?M.N. Ameen, has written a letter to the Health Minister saying there is a major?outbreak of dengue in the Kinniya area resulting in 13 deaths.

“As you are aware, there has been a major outbreak of Dengue in the Kinniya area of the Trincomalee district. Thirteen deaths have been reported during the past few days with today’s death toll being two. This is a serious medical emergency situation,” the letter said.

The Muslim Council of Sri Lanka urged the Minister to take immediate action and provide the necessary health support by mobilizing doctors and support staff from the region as well as specialist doctors from Colombo to address this situation.

“It would be prudent to declare this as a medical emergency and mobilize all the support necessary at the earliest. We thank you for your immediate attention and kind cooperation,” the letter added. (Colombo Gazette)
