The joint opposition had talks today with Central Bank Governor Indrajit Coomaraswamy and discussed the alleged treasury bond scam.
Opposition Parliamentarian Bandula Gunawardena said that?Coomaraswamy was told that there was an unacceptable delay in taking action against those accused in the?treasury bond scam.
Gunawardena also said that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was being falsely accused in the whole scam through a gazette notice.
According to?Gunawardena the?Central Bank Governor had said there was no connection between?Rajapaksa and the former President.
“We want to?tell the country there is an attempt to cover up?this whole scam,” he said.
The joint opposition says it also informed the Governor it was not satisfied with the progress of the internal investigations being conducted by the Central Bank on the scam.
“The Governor said he hopes to complete the investigations in one month,” Gunawardena said.
Gunawardena said the joint opposition hopes to submit information it has to the Presidential commission investigating the scam. (Colombo Gazette)
