23 Feb, 2017

The joint opposition today claimed that some arrests are being made to coincide with the upcoming UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) session.

Joint opposition member of Parliament Keheliya Rambukwella told reporters today that military intelligence officers are being arrested over criminal incidents to show the UNHRC something is being done to address concerns on serious criminal incidents.

“In the Keith Noyahr case the military intelligence officers were arrested just to show the UNHRC something is being done,” he said.

Rambukwella claims the suspects in the?Keith Noyahr case were arrested purely on some telephone calls and where they originated from.
