Five Lankans detained in India launch fast

Five Sri Lankan Tamils housed in the special camp in Tiruchi?went on a fast on Friday demanding their release. The five abstained from taking food from the morning hours at the camp, The Hindu newspaper reported. A case under Explosives Substances Act booked by the Chennai City Q Branch unit is pending against them. Police sources said the five wanted to be released from the camp saying that they would attend the court hearing by staying outside.

Police probe disappearance of Kotadeniyawa child

The police are investigating the?disappearance of a 4 1/2?year old child in?Kotadeniyawa. According to the police a complaint was received that the child had gone missing this morning. The police said that a search operation has been launched to locate the child.
