Opposition wants COPE report in Parliament this week

The opposition today told Parliament the report by the Committee On Public Enterprises (COPE) on the Central Bank bond scam must be presented to?Parliament this week.

Joint opposition Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa said that there was an attempt to prevent the report from being discussed in Parliament this week.

However COPE chairman Sunil Handunneththi said that the report will be presented to Parliament this week.

Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran said the report must be presented with the Tamil and English translations, giving the Parliamentarians time to study the report and then discuss it in Parliament.

Handunneththi had walked out of the COPE meeting yesterday after accusing the UNP members in the committee of?attempting to intimidate the?report on the Central Bank bond scam.?(Colombo Gazette)
