International Cricket Council lifts ban on Sri Lanka

The International Cricket Council (ICC( has lifted the ban imposed on Sri Lanka with immediate effect, Sports Minister Harin Fernando said. The ICC suspended Sri Lanka last November because of Government interference. The ban was imposed of Sri Lanka’s Ministry of sport had sacked the national board (SLC) amid the team’s poor World Cup, although the decision was reversed by a court. American arrested in Beliatta with cannabis plants

An American was arrested in Beliatta, in southern Sri Lanka, with cannabis plants. The Police said the American was in a house which he had taken on rent. Investigators found the cannabis plants planted in pots and covered with polythene sheets on the top floor of the building. The Police said the American did not have a license to grow the cannabis plants. Following his arrest the American said he was growing the plants as an investment. Dilith denies claims he will support Ranil

Businessman turned politician Dilith Jayaweera has denied claims that he is to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe. He accused Wickremesinghe of not having real concern about the future of the country. Jayaweera expressed these views while speaking in Anuradhapura.
