SLFP accuses outsiders of attempting to split the party

03 Sep, 2016

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) today accused outsiders of attempting to split the party to create a new political alliance.

SLFP member Susil Premajayantha said that political parties which were part of the United People’s Freedom Alliance and those who are not recognised as a political party, are behind moves to split the SLFP.

He said that those looking to divide the SLFP want to create a new political force in the country.

However he noted these politicians never supported the SLFP in 1994 when the party came back to power following years of UNP rule. (Colombo Gazette)
