Sri Lanka seeks Korean assistance for ICT development

Sri Lanka has sought Korean assistance for ICT development, the Ministry of Education said today.

Education Minister?Akila Viraj Kariyawasam met with Korean Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Lee Joon Sik, and the President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) In Shik Kim in Seoul.

Discussions focused on Korea’s continuing cooperation in the fields of ICT development and e-learning, as well as KOICA?s support to establish a National Teacher Training College for technology subject streams in Sri Lanka.

During the visit, Minister Kariyawasam also inspected a Smart Class Room in the Ithaewon Elementary School in Seoul.

Minister Kariyawasam who was accompanied by senior officials of the Sri Lankan Ministry of Education, undertook the visit on the invitation of the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education. The Sri Lanka Embassy in Seoul also facilitated the visit. (Colombo Gazette)
