Retired Supreme Court Judge Sarath De Abrew dies from fall

Retired Supreme Court Judge Sarath De Abrew died?after falling from the top floor of his house in Ratmalana today.

Sarath de Abrew was in the media spotlight after being?charged with sexual assault but he?pleaded not guilty to the charge in court.

Earlier Sarath de Abrew filed a fundamental rights petition at the Supreme Court claiming that the Criminal Investigation Division and the Attorney General had acted in an unlawful and arbitrary manner in filing action against him, and that his fundamental rights had been violated.

The petition was however dismissed and?the Supreme Court?heard the case against the former judge. (Colombo Gazette)
