Severe weather warning issued for most parts of country

A severe weather warning was issued for most parts of country today by the Department of Meteorology.

The weather warning said that strong windy condition (up to 60-70 kmph) is expected over the country and surrounding sea area.

According to the warning, the sea area extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanturai and the sea areas extending from Hambantota to Batticaloa via Pottuvil can be very rough at times as the wind speed may?increase up to 60-70 kmph.

The Department of Meteorology also said that other sea areas around the island will be fairly rough at times as the winds can strengthen up to 50-55 kmph at times.
