A demonstration was staged in Moratuwa by carpenters demanding action by the government over their grievances. The demonstrators blocked the road at Rawatawatte which affected the traffic flow along the road. The carpenters claimed that their business has been severely affected by carpenters in the East who make wood products using trees chopped down from the jungle. Bandara to replace Jayasekera

UNP MP Dayasiri Jayasekera, who announced his resignation from parliament today, will be replaced by Nalin Bandara. Bandara was next in line from the Kurunegala District to enter parliament as he?had?secured the highest preferential votes after Jayasekera from Kurunegala for the UNP.
