JVP insists there was no meeting between Ranil and Handunnetti

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) today insisted there was no meeting held between Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and JVP member Sunil?Handunnetti.

JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that while?Handunnetti was the chairman of the Committee On Public Enterprises (COPE), he had not met the Prime Minister for talks as a JVP member or COPE chairman.

There were reports that?Handunnetti met the Prime Minister to discuss the allegations raised against Central Bank governor Arjuna Mahendran.

COPE is investigating?Mahendran and allegations had been raised that the Prime Minister had attempted to influence?Handunnetti to clear?Mahendran. (Colombo Gazette)
