Speaker turns back Bribery Commission officer who had letter for Wimal

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya today turned back an officer from the Bribery Commission who had attempted to hand over a letter to Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa.
Weerawansa raised objections in Parliament when he heard that the officer had come and asked to meet him in Parliament instead of going to his residence.
The Parliamentarian said that the?Bribery Commission has no right to seek a meeting with him in Parliament.
Deputy Speaker Thilanga Sumathipala, who was in the Chair at the time, agreed that the?Bribery Commission officer should have gone to Weerawansa’s residence to hand over the letter and not Parliament.
Sumathipala later discussed the issue with the Speaker and informed Parliament that the officer had been turned back. (Colombo Gazette)
