Wigneswaran takes over key portfolios in the Northern Provincial Council

Northern Province Chief Minister C.V Wigneswaran took over some key portfolios in the?Northern Provincial Council.

The Ministries were earlier under provincial ministers in the Northern Provincial Council.

Wigneswaran took oaths as the provincial Ministry of?Finance and Planning, Law and Order, Lands, Social Services, Rehabilitation, Woman Affairs, Electricity, Housing and Construction, Industries and Enterprise Promotion, Tourism, Local Government and Provincial Administration.

He took oaths before Northern Province Governor Reginald Cooray at the Governor?s Secretariat in Jaffna.

Some of the Ministries were under provincial Minister?Pathmanathan Sathiyalingam.

Last month a?group of Northern Provincial Council (NPC) Ministers had sent a letter to Wigneswaran demanding a reshuffle in the provincial administration.

Wigneswaran said that 16 Provincial Ministers had signed the letter demanding that some Ministers be removed and new ones be included.

The Chief Minister had said at the time that he needs to study the issue very carefully before taking a final decision.?(Colombo Gazette)
