Former Economic Affairs Minister Basil Rajapaksa arrested by the FCID

Former Economic Affairs Minister Basil Rajapaksa was arrested by the police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) this morning.

He was arrested after he appeared before the FCID to make a statement.

Rajapaksa was arrested over a land issue in Matara and was?produced before a Magistrate today.

The former Minister was arrested last year as well?in connection to the ?Divineguma? financial fraud case but was later released on bail.

Government to review fuel price formula

The Government is to review the monthly fuel price formula, Minister of Passenger Transport Management, Power and Energy Mahinda Amaraweera said. He said that the Government will meet and discuss the fuel price formula and decide on its future.
