JVP denies reports of a rift in the party over leadership post

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) today denied reports of a split in the party over the leadership post.

JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that one newspaper had today attempted to mislead the public by claiming there was an attempt to replace him as party leader.

He said that the his party will expose the newspaper to the public and parliament as it had attempted to tarnish the image of the party.

JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva said that the former regime was behind attempts to give the impression there was a rift in the JVP.

He claims former regime is taking out its anger on the JVP as the JVP worked for change at the last Presidential election. (Colombo Gazette)

Police authorised to arrest anyone violating quarantine regulations

The Police have been authorised to arrest anyone violating the quarantine regulations, the Police said today. Senior Deputy Inspector General?Ajith Rohana said that the Director General of Health Services Anil Jasinghe has empowered the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) C. D. VAT exemptions for inbound tour operators

The Government says inbound tour operators will be exempted from Value Added Tax (VAT). Co- Cabinet Spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardena said Tax exemption will be in effect from 01 April 2020. The Minister made the announcement during the weekly cabinet media briefing held today.
