Joint opposition calls for Parliament Secretary General’s head

The joint opposition today called for the removal of the Parliament Secretary General over the results of the vote on the supplementary estimates yesterday.

Joint opposition member Wimal Weerawansa told reporters at a media briefing that Parliament cannot work with someone like the current?Parliament Secretary General if he had misled Parliament and announced the wrong results on the vote.

The?supplementary estimate was passed by a majority vote but the opposition said the actual result was a tie.

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has appointed a committee to look into the issue but the opposition warns it will take legal action if the?supplementary estimate is passed by the Speaker. (Colombo Gazette)
