Scheduled power cuts ruled out until further notice

Scheduled power cuts have been ruled out until further notice, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) said today. The electricity sector regulator said that the demand for electricity can be managed during the month of February starting tomorrow. Third generator at Norochcholai coal power plant malfunctions again

The third generator at the Norochcholai coal power plant malfunctioned again today, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said. Accordingly, the CEB said the national grid will lose 270 MW of power. The third generator resumed operations just yesterday, following a breakdown experienced in December. Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa and former Director-General of the Divi Neguma Department Kithsiri Ranawaka has been acquitted from the 2015 almanacs ‘Lith? distribution case.
