Laws to create a permanent office on missing persons is expected to be finalised by May or June this year, Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera said.
He said that the Government is working with the ICRC to create the office on missing persons.
The Minister assured that the Government will take steps to ensure no one goes missing like they did during and soon after the war.
The Minister also said that a Task Force has been appointed to consult the families of the victims of the war when addressing issues related to the war.
He said Sri Lanka is also working on a truth commission and as part of this process a technical team visited South Africa to study the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) process.
The Minister said that the Government is not appointing another commission like the former Government but looking at ways to prevent incidents like which took place during the war, from taking place again.?(Colombo Gazette)
