Opposition to present no-confidence motion on John

24 Mar, 2016

The opposition is to present a no-confidence motion on Tourism Minister John Amaratunga to Parliament.

Opposition and Sri Lanka Freedom Party member Mahindananda Aluthgamage said that?Amaratunga had misled Parliament in a statement made yesterday.

Aluthgamage said that?Amaratunga had given wrong information to Parliament to a question he had raised and as a result has lost the confidence of Parliament.

The former Minister said that the Secretary to the Tourism Minister had given the correct details to the Minister in response to the question posed but the Minister, instead of reading that response, gave a completely misleading response.

Mahindananda Aluthgamage tabled the response given by the Secretary to the Tourism Minister to the question raised yesterday and said that the opposition will now discuss and present a?no-confidence motion on Minister John Amaratunga soon. (Colombo Gazette)
