Yoshitha suspended from Navy to assist FCID probe

Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been suspended from the Navy to assist the investigations being conducted by the police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID).

The Navy said that Yoshitha Rajapaksa has been suspended with effect from February 28 on the recommendations of the Ministry of Defence (MOD).

Yoshitha Rajapaksa is?currently in remand prison and is?being investigated for alleged money laundering in connection to the case filed against the Carlton Sports Network (CSN).

The Colombo High Court today decided to hear the bail application filed by?Yoshitha Rajapaksa’s lawyers on March 8.

Yoshitha Rajapaksa was also investigated by the Navy over his alleged unprofessional conduct when he was in the Navy as a Lieutenant when his father was the President.

A report based on the investigations had been sent to the?Ministry of Defence. (Colombo Gazette)
