A group of monks were today ordered to be remanded further over the recent incident at the Homagama court.
The?General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) the?venerable Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero was remanded till February 23 by the Homagama Magistrate today.
Meanwhile the General Secretary of the Ravana Balaya, the Venerable Ittekande Saddhatissa Thero and the?President of the Sinhala Ravaya the Venerable Akmeemana Dayarathana Thero are among 11 people ordered today to be remanded till March 1st in relation to the same incident.
The monks took part in a protest outside the Homagama Magistrate’s court when the?venerable Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero was presented to court last month.
Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero was presented in court last month after he was ordered to be arrested for contempt of court and for?verbally abusing the wife of missing journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda
He had verbally abused Mrs.?Eknaligoda when she attended a court hearing recently over the disappearance of?her husband.
Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero had also disrupted court proceedings and was later arrested for contempt of court and for threatening Mrs.?Eknaligoda.
He was given bail in the contempt of court case but was remanded for threatening?Mrs.?Eknaligoda. (Colombo Gazette)
