Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka takes oaths as an MP

Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka took oaths in Parliament today as a Member of Parliament (MP).

Fonseka took oaths in front of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.

The United National Party (UNP) yesterday?unanimously agreed to give Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka the vacant UNP National List seat in Parliament.

The decision was taken when the UNP Working Committee met last?evening to decide on the?National List seat left vacant following the demise of M.K.D.S. Gunawardena.

Fonseka?s Democratic Party and the UNP reached an agreement last week to work together. (Colombo Gazette)

Iranian national arrested at BIA with forged passport

An?Iranian national was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) today with a forged passport. The Immigration and Emigration Department said that the?Iranian had in his possession a passport which was forged using sophisticated technology.
