TULF calls for the unity of all Tamil speaking people

veerasingham-anandasangareeThe Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) has called on all Tamil speaking people to unite for one goal.

TULF General Secretary V. Anandasangaree said that the country as a whole is in a much confused state, if not at least various ethnic groups are.

Anandasangaree says there is a general feeling that it is the general interest of the Tamils that is now suffering due to the disunity among the Tamil groups and Tamil political parties.

He says the Tamil National Alliance, although not properly functioning for a lengthy period is misusing the term TNA for the sole benefit and promotion of the Illangai Thamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK).

Anandasangaree says the TNA’s other constituent partners, due to the discrimination by the TNA, have lost their credibility as parties representing the Tamils through the TNA.

He says a moral duty is now cast on the leadership of the TNA to get united themselves and to bring all other Tamil parties committed to look after the interest of the Tamil speaking people under one banner.

Anandasangaree warned that if the TNA fails to do that then the TULF has a duty by the founders of the TULF to take the initiative to bring all interested in Tamil rights, under one banner. (Colombo Gazette)

These types of pleas with racial overtones madde by Tamil leaders from time to time, by and large are the cause of the confusion prevalent in the country and possibly the Tamil people as claimed by Mr Anandasangaree. If in my view he really cares about the Tamil people and has learnt any lessons at all from the 30+ years of bloodshed and misery we faced he must be calling for the unity of all peoples in Sri Lanka. It disgusts me what politicians do to win votes at the expense of plunging people into misery after they get their passage to power. The need of the hour is unity with others not unity with your own kind to perceptively act against the others or more importantly the type of plea we need is for unity of purpose and a vision for the future.

Unity is impossible among the Tamil leaders, because India and the West have divided the Tamils leaders beyond repairable stage for decades. Division is in Tamil leaders blood; can’t get rid of it. We can only fix the problem by empowering the younger generation about the power and value of unity through education in schools.

For the government to take the right path, it is important to extricate xenophobia against Tamils, existing within the Sinhhala supremacists in the parliament. Their fear, if not pretended, against the fantacy of separtism in SL is ridiculous and is with lack of knowledge.

These Sinhala supremacists should be told and made to understand that Federalism is not separation. America, has 52 fedreral states and not 52 separate
countries. It has existed so for more than 200 years.

SWRD Bandaranayake, in State Council, advoccated Federalism. Later SJV asked for it. Now, TNA is asking what SJV asked. where is seapartism?
