Government meets deadline and repays USD 1 billion debt

The Government has repaid a USD 1 billion debt by the deadline which expired yesterday. Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera said that despite the 51 day political crisis, the Government was able to meet its commitment to repay the debt. He said that by meeting the deadline, the Government has maintain an?unblemished record of paying debts on time.
